Fall 2015 Haute Couture: Zuhair Murad’s Starry Night

Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Star Catcher This Winter collection, Zuhair Murad ascends heavenwards, voyaging to the stars... all the stars - those twinkling jewels studding the firmament, but also the stars of the silver screen, those mythical goddesses of the 1970s, divas of hyper-glam chic. Dazzlingly present on their cosmic pedestals, these divine creatures have inspired an astral theme.

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad had his head in the stars for his fall 2015 haute couture collection, sending down the catwalk a glittering array of celestial evening gowns sure to grace red carpets soon.

Using a palette of midnight blue, moonshine silver, nebulous white, and asteroid black, with a few touches of fiery red, Murad played star catcher dusting his gowns generously with sequins, beads, and crystals, while embroidering constellation patterns on tulle, silk, velvet, and lace. And if the theme wasn’t clear enough, stars could also be found decorating the slim belt embracing model’s waists and on crowning tiaras.

In terms of silhouette, the designer offered a bit of everything — long and mini, sheath and bouffant, sticking mainly to a red carpet worthy offering with a few figure hugging jumpsuits with large cape sleeves.

As befitting a fall/winter collection, there were also beautiful silk velvet capes and fox fur coats, capes, and stoles.

The result was exquisite and the star patterns unusual on a catwalk dominated, once again, by floral embroideries this season.
