Dior Takes Le Petit Théâtre to Chengdu
Dior has announced the first stop of a new travelling exhibition, “Le Petit Théâtre Dior,” will run May 31st until June 20th at the Chengdu IFS mall.
The exhibition of “miniature” clothes is inspired by The Theatre of Fashion, a 1945 exhibition in Paris that was an ode to the glory of French Haute Couture after the war and presented miniature versions of creations designed by the greatest couturiers of the time. Christian Dior was working at the time for Lucien Lelong, the couturier behind this project, and is believed to have helped make some of the outfits presented. That was just two years before he would create the “New Look” with his first Haute Couture presentation in 1947.
The new exhibition has been planned as a tribute to the meticulous handiwork of the House of Dior Haute Couture ateliers, whose talent is expressed in the miniature clothes that resemble the originals in every tiny detail.
Expect to see a tiny Bar suit and miniature ball gowns that encapsulate the spirit of Dior in the delicate proportions akin to a doll’s house.
