When Time Becomes Art: Tiffany's Bold Vision for Tomorrow
In a world obsessed with smartwatches and notifications, Tiffany & Co.’s Time Objects collection invites us to contemplate time differently —not as something to be conquered, but as something to be celebrated.
Tiffany’s legacy of creating exquisite home objects dates to the mid-19th century, when the House introduced innovative designs that helped shape the market of the era. These luxurious pieces—crafted in-house and often conceived by visionary designers like Edward C. Moore—were made to elevate everyday living. That tradition continues with the latest Time Objects, which transform functional time-telling table clocks into valuable collector’s items and visually captivating works of kinetic art.
The Time for Speed clock now comes in a bold black edition, marking the first time this race car-inspired design has been offered in this colourway. The piece maintains its signature Tiffany Blue "57" detail—a reference to the flagship store's address—while the glossy black aluminium bodywork creates a more dramatic presence. The manually wound Swiss movement by L'Épée 1839 provides an eight-day power reserve, with time displayed through rotating disks positioned cleverly on the car's side.
Meanwhile, the new Tiffany Airways Diamond Edition elevates the aviation-themed clock with serious gemstone investment. The piece incorporates 511 round brilliant diamonds totalling 4.5 carats, distributed across the nose and cockpit areas. Beyond its luxury credentials, the engineering remains impressive—the same reliable L'Épée movement drives large stainless steel time displays at the plane's nose, while an innovative mounting system creates the visual effect of flight.
Since launching Time Objects in 2022, Tiffany has successfully tapped into a growing market for luxury functional art. The collection appeals to collectors who want timepieces that serve as conversation starters and investment pieces simultaneously.
With plans to introduce new designs annually, Tiffany is building a product line that bridges its heritage in fine craftsmanship with contemporary home luxury, while capturing the whimsical ethos that defines many of the House’s creations.
