Spring 2018 Haute Couture: Georges Hobeika's Greek Inspiration

Georges Hobeika’s Spring-Summer 2018 Couture collection paid tribute to the cultural richness of the ancient Greek civilization as Ionic column carvings seem to manifest in the graceful folds of long, vaporous?? Tunics, and crystal embroideries evoke Icarus’s wings.

Laurel leaf embroideries are strategically placed to enhance the curve of a hip or embrace a breast. Meanwhile, a symbol of femininity and natural beauty, pearls softly enliven a sleeve or a voluptuous silhouette, and laser-cut leather appliqués recall foliage wrapped balusters.

The collection’s color palette comprised subtle shades to evoke the shimmer of the Aegean Sea, alabaster marble and earthy ceramic tones.

The designers also offered a range of accessories incorporating Icarus wings as well as bay leaves, while the antique lace-up sandals were represented through gilded bracelets and leather strips that crown finely crafted stilettos.
