Fall/Winter 2025: Stephane Rolland's Argument

Maurice Ravel composed the famous ballet score Boléro at the request of the choreographer and dancer Ida Rubinstein, who premiered the piece at the Paris Opera in 1928. Boléro is characterized by its repetitive, hypnotic melody that builds in intensity and orchestration throughout its 15-minute duration. Rubinstein's choreography for the premiere was described as sensual and hypnotic.
For Fall/Winter 2025, Stephane Rolland re-imagined the encounter between the two creatives, bringing together Ravel’s modernist rigor with Rubinstein’s dreamlike sensuality.
Titled Argument, the collection was a meeting of opposites, Japanese minimalist structure using beautiful gazar against Spanish flamboyance with a fluidity of red chiffon and organza.
Of note several red dresses embroidered with crystal and red coral, cubic sleeves and sculpted cutaway, teasing rather than revealing. The couturier offered several “poncho” like dresses in mousseline and crepe that gently floated around bodies, along with matador vests and capes
Rolland stayed faithful to his usual palette of red, white and black with touches of gold.
