Maison Rami Kadi’s SS24 Collection ‘Les Miroirs’
For its SS24 collection, Rami Kadi pays homage to AlUla, a region in Saudi Arabia teeming with historical richness and stunning natural landscapes. For thousands of years, its towering sandstone mountains, interspersed with verdant oasis valleys, have witnessed the rise and fall of civilisations, and it is
this very landscape that serves as the muse for his latest collection.
“AlUla is a testament to the passage of time, its petroglyphs telling stories of ancient civilisations,” Kadi reflects. “Time has stood still in the magnificent city of AlUla. It is as if ancient peoples arrived there and never left. The Nabataeans left their mark on the walls of AlUla and so did the Lihyanites. And somehow, these stories have lasted thousands of years for us to reflect on and be inspired by.”
AlUla’s landscapes are all reflected in the ‘Les Miroirs’ collection’s 32 pieces, which comprise an array of figure-enhancing corsets, skirts, and flowing capes.
A standout piece inspired by Maraya, AlUla’s mirrored architectural wonder and the world’s largest mirrored building, features sequins representing its reflective facets with the designer continuing his innovative use of holographic materials, recycled plastics, PVC, and shattered glass.
Many of the patterns on the dresses are inspired by the ancient inscriptions adorning AlUla’s rocky trails.
