Fall 2017 Haute Couture: Georges Chakra’s Chiaroscuro

Georges Chakra played on transparencies and opacity for his Fall 2017 Haute Couture collection, presenting embroideries under delicate tulle for a discreet and resolutely contemporary feel.

Wearing a palette of black, Prussian blue, imperial green, deep purple and burnt orange, the designer’s heroes were full of mystery, wearing knee-length ballerina dresses sexily paired with stunning embroidered transparent boots, and long dresses with asymmetrical necklines.

Feathers decorated necklines, helmed a short skirt or ornamented a sleeve, sequins shone under tulle, and rich velvet was used to create a graphic effects, while waists were clinched in and legs played peekaboo under transparencies.

Overall, the collection felt young and fresh, aimed to appeal to a younger couture clientele.

The final look was a short bridal dress worn with thigh high boots, both fully embellished with flower appliqués. The look was complemented with a white cape with a hood.
