Fall 2012 Haute Couture Georges Chakra - Dangerous Sirens
For his Fall-Winter 2012-2013 couture collection, Lebanese designer Georges Chakra found inspiration in the heroines of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1950s movies: quietly sophisticated ladies with the hint of smouldering sexiness.
With sequined tulle, feathered tulle and lace, the designer played with elegant peekaboo effects, while keeping his silhouette close to the body. Waists were gently clinched to create hourglass figures, sometimes enhanced with varnished corset belts, while the shoulders were round, covered or bare, and skirts were either flirting right above the knee or were full length with a thigh-high slit for some added va va voom.
Feathers took pride of place gently highlighting a shoulder, boldly decorating an entire bustier or cascading to form beautiful skirts. Colourful rhodoids were also shaped and placed to create a more modern feathered effect on several gowns.
Short cocktail dresses were paired with large-brimmed hats that covered the faces creating an added mysterious and somewhat potent feel.
Siren dresses were also present, guaranteeing the designer’s dreams will soon be seen on red carpets around the world.
