Fall 2022 Haute Couture: Dior’s Tree of Life

The tree of life is at the heart of Ukrainian artist Olesia Trofymenko’s work, and the starting point for the Dior autumn-winter 2022-2023 haute couture collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, who continues her love affair with crafts.
“The Tree of Life is a call, a warning, to make traditions and gestures shine through, allowing us to recover a balance, if only momentarily,” read the show notes.
There was a whiff of European folkloric inspiration from Arlesienne bodices to the Tyrolian dirndls and the occasional use of Scottish tartan though the designer largely stuck to a neutral palette with the occasional hits of navy, red and chartreuse.
