Artketing: Keith Haring is New 1800 Tequila’s Essential Artist

The late Keith Haring’s bold artworks have been selected for 1800 Tequila’s 7th Essential Artists series of bottles, now an annual artistic tie-up that has already included works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Shepard Fairey, and Gary Baseman, amongst others. Following on from the 6th series, which was entirely dedicated to Basquiat, this is the second time the tequila brand dedicates a six-bottle series to a single artist.

The works selected reflect Haring’s colorful style of bold silhouettes mixed with socio-political themes. While his career was cut abruptly short by his death in 1990, Haring had dominated the urban culture scene throughout the 1980s, moving quickly from the walls of subway stations to the galleries and museums all the while developing a vocabulary of images — the radiant baby, the barking dog, and the running figure – that quickly became iconic.

The limited edition 1800 Tequila Essential Artists series bottles (750ml) will be available in select markets beginning Spring 2015. They will sell for around $30 each.
