Fall 2024 Haute Couture: Armani's Timeless Pearls

Could pearls be a girl’s best friend?

At 89, Giorgio Armani shows no signs of slowing down, yet was also in search of serenity for his latest Armani Prive Fall 2024 haute couture collection.

Using the beauty of pearls as a file conductor, Armani offered 89 seductive looks (matching his age) that gave a sense of Great Gasby nostalgia to the glamorous collection, reinforced by the soundtrack choices, such as the use of the 1930s American swing ballad “Moonlight Serenade.”

The show opened with a display of Armani soft-cut tailoring, adorned with pearl buttons and other pearl accents to accentuate a shoulder line or draw the eyes to a neckline.

The silhouettes were elongated and fluid, jackets were sculpted with powerful shoulders and matched with flowing trousers and necklines on fluid tops varied. The designer kept to a restraint palette of perlie white, champagne, grey and black.

Shimmering fabrics played with lights with pearls trapped on the surfaces and multiplied like dew drops on light fabrics. Beyond pearls, exquisite embroidery detailing was also subtly present.
