Fall 2024 Haute Couture: Alexis Mabille's Champagne

Celebrating the joie de vivre a la francaise, Alexis Mabille invited guests to the iconic venue the Lido, which he recently redesigned. Champagne, the title of this collection, could be found on every small table and set the mood for a fun sparkling presentation complete with a performance by burlesque artist Dita Von Teese performed in a giant champagne as grand finale.

Using shimmering lamé, fluid crepe, sensual satin, the designer imagine “a woman who is playful, delicate yet fatal, dazzling and effervescent — like a bubble of champagne.

The collection incorporate a few references to the cabaret world with a Long “Fontaines du Lido” gown in black jersey, embroidered with gold-toned mosaic along with a bustier  sheath dress in nude mousse crepe, inlaid with a silhouette of a black cat which has its tail wrapped around the neck. (Le Chat Noir or Black Cat was the first modern cabaret established in 19th century Montmartre)

The show opened with a “classic” Alexis Mabille look, a Blouse-bustier in white glittered organza paired with a a simple long skirt in black double-faced satin which offered plenty of nonchalant elegance.

His signature bow appeared on a long asymmetrical sheath dress in midnight blue ottoman crepe, with a large satin bow sleeve as well as a large draped bow around the shoulders of a red ottoman sheath dress.

Befitting couture, there were plenty of delightful details such as crystal and jewels buttons, gradient feathers and gradient crystal beads, silver brocade and Lyon lace .
