Scattered to the Winds: Paolo Sebastian's Ode to Liberation

Paolo Sebastian's Autumn/Winter 2025-26 couture collection, "Scattered to the Winds," presents a cohesive range built around vintage-inspired aesthetics and fluid silhouettes. Creative Director Paul Vasileff centered his new collection on themes of freedom and personal choice.

Vasileff describes the aesthetic as "less princess, more undone," emphasizing raw beauty over traditional refinement. “It’s raw rather than refined, with an almost chaotic coming together of curve-hugging contours, dynamic movement, and barely-there straps,” he explains.

The collection successfully delivers curve-hugging contours with dynamic movement capabilities, meeting the designer's stated goal of creating pieces that feel spontaneous rather than overly constructed.

The whimsical collection features a vintage-inspired colour palette of chartreuse, sherbet, java, peaches, cream, and mint.

The designer mixed Chantilly lace with ultra-sheer materials and hail spot tulle. Construction details emphasize movement and texture. Sweetheart necklines appear consistently across the collection, paired with body-skimming silhouettes that prioritize fit over volume. Embellishments include slinky tassels, fringes, and floral thread work, all executed with technical precision. Barely-there straps and exposed bodysuit corseting add structural interest while maintaining the collection's sensual undertones.

Key pieces include a layered petal ballerina dress and a sheer mint lace dress featuring an exposed bodysuit corset with tassel hem detailing.

The collection's finale wedding gown showcases delicate lace sleeves paired with a dramatic drop-waist hail spot tulle skirt, requiring over 150 hours of hand-layering work.
