Virtuose Returns to Hong Kong: The Artistry of Couture in Motion

Caroline Hu

Hong Kong’s skyline will once again serve as the glittering backdrop for Virtuose: The Artistry of Couture.

The event, part of Hong Kong Fashion Fest, is returning for its sophomore edition on 22 November 2025, this time at Central Ferry Pier 4.

Positioned as a platform where East meets West and where couture redefines its own vocabulary in the modern age, this year’s edition will bring together four new couturiers:

Caroline Hu – The New-York-based Chinese designer blends couture-inspired craftsmanship with painterly sensibility. Known for voluminous tulle, delicate lace, and hand-painted prints, her work translates emotion into sculptural silhouettes. Her Autumn/Winter 2025-26 Daydream collection juxtaposed quilted florals, feather-trimmed jackets, and ethereal gowns with velvety Adidas Originals, merging romanticism with contemporary irreverence.

Zhaoyi Yu – The Chinese designer transforms personal introspection into couture. His debut Spring/Summer 2025 GLIMPSE collection explored land, sea, and sky through translucent layers, mother-of-pearl inlays, and delicate corsetry, creating garments that are at once fragile and precise. Drawing on heritage craft and personal narrative, Yu’s work bridges emotional depth with technical mastery, offering couture that feels suspended between dream and reality while remaining conceptually rigorous.

Tomo Koizumi – The Japanese designer is celebrated for exuberant volume and maximalist sculptural ruffles. Self-taught, Koizumi is known for layered organza constructions, saturated colour palettes, and wearable fantasy. His Spring 2026 bridal-inspired collection combined upcycled kimono bustiers, voluminous skirts, and rental-style sustainability, reflecting a move toward slower fashion while retaining theatrical delight. Koizumi’s work celebrates joy, craft, and the spectacle of couture.

Peet Dullaert – The Dutch designer combines architectural tailoring with fluidity and modern wearability. His recent collections feature organza overlays, tech-pleated skirts, detachable elements, and crystal accents — balancing structural precision with movement. Dullaert’s couture prioritises craft, adaptability, and quiet sophistication, positioning him as a thoughtful voice in contemporary Parisian fashion.
