Artketing: Piet Hein Eek, Ruinart Team up

All year long, Dutch industrial designer Piet Hein Eek, has been collaborating with Ruinart Champage at art fairs around the world, creating large-scale installations that use modules of the wooden trapezoid box he had designed to fit the unique shape of the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs bottle, with its rounded body and elongated neck. Most recently, he created a grand arch at Art Basel Miami Beach.

Art Stage Singapore 2014 will be able to enjoy a new large-scale composition — two wooden, trapezoidal modules arranged in the form of an ‘hourglass’ and filled with Ruinart Blanc de Blancs bottles.

The limited edition Ruinart Blanc de Blancs by Piet Hein Eek will also be available to order. Each of the hand-made champagne boxes are crafted out of lightly sanded recycled pine in shades of pale grey, white, and cream to reflect the appearance of the champagne, and make a historical reference to the French Champagne house’s ground-breaking decision in the late 18th Century to start using wooden crates instead of baskets to ship its Champagne.
