Having recently collaborated with Coach for its Spring 2015 ready to wear collection, Los Angeles-based artist Gary Baseman has now designed a $2,000 decanter for the 1800 Tequila Colección. This is the second time Baseman has been commissioned to create a limited edition for the Mexican distiller. In 2011, he designed the "Luchador and Mermaid" bottle as part of the 1800 Essential Artist series bottle. Watch video below for more details on that first series. For this new project, Baseman returns to the mermaid figure, but instead of painting it on the bottle, this time he created a 3-D cartoon version in pewter that elegantly embraces the shape of the bottle for the 1800 Colección.

The artist, who has a traveling retrospective at the K11 Art Museum in Shanghai through March, is known for his pop art imagery, and his “Sirena Del Deseo” (sirene of desir) aims to exhibit his philosophy of “the beauty of the bitter-sweetness of life.”

Only 40 decanters of the luxury tequila will be produced.
