Spring 2013 Haute Couture: Atelier Versace's Sporty Couture

For her Spring Summer 2013 Collection, Donatella Versace looked to the architecture of the 19th century dome of the Centorial building designed by Gustave Eiffel.

Her exploration of the relationship between solid structures and ethereal fabrics in the building resulted in the designer using 24-carat gold pin-striping to define the construction of her clothes and further accentuate the slimming waistlines and shoulders.

Fitted trousers and skirts cut to the knee create a sleek, streamlined silhouette, while oversized fluorescent leather piping reinforces necklines on dresses held together with gold zips.

There were baby-doll dresses in metal mesh and fluorescent colors, pleated skirts with gold laminate inserts, all reflecting light as they moved, and a mink fur that was combined with metal mesh and three dimensional embellishments.

The color palette ranges from black with gold accents to fluorescent fuchsia and yellow.
