Fall 2012 Haute Couture Adeline Andre's Zen Minimalism

In the small serene garden of an architectural firm, French couturier Adeline Andre presented a minimalist collection of 19 looks, which reprised her well-known “three armholes” design on various garments (coat, jacket and dress). Her collection also included an innovative convertible dress design that creates in turn a sober look or ultra-sensual bare back by just gently pulling some strings detailed with a flower petal-shaped fabric.

The designer used ultra-light fabrics such as veil of wool, silk crepe, satin and chiffon in a colourful palette of mimosa, poppy red, jasmine and Sevres blue to create mainly long, fluid dresses that stay close to the body without ever restricting it. With almost no seams apparent on the delicate and difficult to work with fabrics, the craftsmanship involved in creating these couture looks was superb even while the design was restrained.
