De Beers London’s Vibrations: A New Chapter Rooted in Water and Source

De Beers London has unveiled Vibrations, a new High Jewellery collection inspired by the energy and movement of inland waters. For the first time in the House’s High Jewellery offering, the collection incorporates rough diamonds sourced through GemFair, placing equal emphasis on technical craft and provenance.

The collection reflects the journey of a diamond from its point of discovery to finished jewel, translating the movement of rivers, waterfalls and canyons into modular, transformable designs. Rather than remaining fixed, the jewels are conceived to shift and adapt — pieces designed to be reconfigured, worn differently, and experienced over time.

Chapter One, Echo, takes its cues from Namibia’s Fish River Canyon. Africa’s largest canyon and the world’s second-largest, it stretches 160 kilometres and plunges up to 550 metres deep, its dramatic ridges carved over millennia by water. That sense of scale and natural rhythm is interpreted across five one-of-a-kind pieces: a transformable necklace, a ring set with a 5.21-carat D Flawless diamond, a bracelet, brooch and earrings. Polished white diamonds are paired with tactile rough alluvial stones, reflecting the canyon’s contrast between raw geological force and precision-formed structure.

The Echo Necklace is the technical centrepiece of the collection. Its architecture allows it to break down into multiple elements: a central structure that can be worn as a contemporary tiara, two detachable side sections that form bracelets, a shorter necklace configuration, and tassels that convert into earrings — six distinct ways of wearing a single jewel. At its centre sits a 1.12-carat Fancy Intense Blue diamond, conceived as a pebble dropped into water, with surrounding diamond motifs radiating outward like reverberations across the surface. More than 193 carats of custom-cut white diamonds complete the piece.

Alongside Echo, Vibrations introduces Riverborn, a capsule within the collection defined by its exclusive use of GemFair-sourced diamonds. Launched by De Beers in 2018, GemFair supports artisanal miners through traceability, fair pricing and ethical working practices. In Riverborn, rough and polished stones are paired together, grounding the collection’s narrative firmly in origin and materiality.

Other sets continue this exploration of contrast and movement. Modern Lines features organically shaped rough diamonds set alongside polished stones, while the Toi et Moi rings reinterpret a familiar format with a notable shift: unlike previous iterations from the House, the paired stones can be separated and worn individually, combining polished and rough diamonds with smooth and textured gold finishes.

Vibrations debuted during Paris Haute Couture Week, coinciding with the opening of De Beers London’s new flagship at 12 Rue de la Paix. Spanning three floors and 464 square metres, the boutique marks the first physical expression of the House’s reimagined identity, bringing together its Southern African heritage and London creativity in the heart of Place Vendôme.
