There will be an auction sale of vintage fashion on November 24 at the Hôtel Drouot which will include several pieces of Jean Patou Haute Couture collection 85/86 by Christian Lacroix.

Jean Patou revolutionized the female silhouette of the early 20th century, with shorter cuts better suited to the active lives of modern women. For example, he invented the sportswear skirt for the tennis champion Suzanne Lenglen. After his death in 1936, Henri Giboulet took over as creative director of the couture house, and then Christian Lacroix in 1981.

In 1987 the house ceased its haute couture activity to concentrate on fragrance.
