Spring 2024 Haute Couture: Yara Shoemaker's Babylon Gardens

US-based Syrian designer Yara Shoemaker presented her interpretation of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon for her Spring/Summer Couture Collection.

Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the gardens, the silhouettes aimed to celebrate the grandeur of terraces and cascading waterfalls with a colour palette mirroring nature’s vibrancy. Gentle mint greens symbolized lush foliage, while soft pinks reminiscent of delicate blossoms added a romantic touch, and shades of blue evoke serene waters flowing through the gardens.

Of note a romantic double-satin dusty rose dress with a nude gold corset embellished with hand-cut ropes, 3D flowers, Swarovski crystals, and pearls and a deep purple silk duchesse gown with skilled hand-draped knot effects on the corset that is ripe for a red carpet appearance.

The designer founded her brand in the US in 2020 and has an atelier in Milan. This was her sophomore presentation in Paris.
