JewelFest to Celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee with Crimson and White, Gold Jewels

Singapore JewelFest will return in October with its curated mix of international jewelry houses and designers. This year’s festival will celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee with a curation of crimson and white pieces (representing the country’s flag colors) using a range of white diamonds, pearls, rubies, spinel, opals, and oxblood corals, along with a curation of gold and golden gemstones, from alluring champagne to vibrant amber. Organizers will also unveil a special collaboration with the National Museum of Singapore with creations by six jewelers inspired by a selection of watercolor paintings of flora and fauna from the museum’s collection of William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings. The 10-day fair will be divided into two parts, with the first, running Oct 9‑13 spotlighting Asian designers, such as Karen Suen, Didi’s Jewellery, and Kavant & Sharart, while the second part, Oct 14‑18, is dedicated to European and American brands. “We want to promote design excellence and art history, as well as innovation. A lot of the brands you will see at the fair don’t usually have a retail presence, they are artisans and designers, and they exhibit in other shows around the world,” explains JewelFest director Angela Loh about the positioning of the fair.

Some of the exhibitors who are new to Singapore include German jeweler Erich Zimmermann, winner of the JCK Jeweler’s choice Award for his golden "Cocoon" necklace, as well as Esvara Viva, whose creations are inspired by natural and cultural heritage sites protected by UNESCO, and Hong Kong jeweler Edward Chiu.
