Spring 2024 Haute Couture: Zuhair Murad's Tyrian Arabesque
Zuhair Murad paid homage to the Phoenicians' love for the sea with a collection rich in dazzling embellishments with omnipresent, drapery, Greco-Roman pendants and arabesques.
Cascading chains on precious fabrics such as caddy crepe, chiffon, lame lurex, charmeuse, or satin evoked the movement of water and the treasures of ships sailing the seas. Metallic inlays captured the brilliance of the sun on the sea while sheaths, capes, and delicate tunics were enriched with motifs drawn from mosaics.
A long kimono dress, in ivory satin, is adorned with crystals resembling sea spray along its edges. Sheaths, capes, and delicate tunics are enriched with motifs drawn from mosaics, in carefully chosen details or opulent panels.
Beaded fringes, bold jewelry encrusted with crystals surrounded the silhouettes with 3-D embroidered appliques on shoulders and hips holding drapery.
The palette unfolds in Mediterranean colors and metallic reflections. Faded reds recalls the wine of amphorae, deep greens evoke olives and the wealth of Phoenician plains. Glistening notes of silver, iron, bronze, and copper salute the jewelry craftsmanship of the ancient civilization.
